Tropical Storm Barry dissipates over eastern Mexico

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 30 (ACN) Cuban Meteorological Institute (INSMET) reported today that Tropical Storm Barry, the second of the current North Atlantic hurricane season, dissipated early Monday morning, moving toward Mexico.

According to Tropical Cyclone Advisory No. 4 from the Insmet Forecast Center, at 9:00 a.m., Barry's remnants were estimated at 23.4 degrees North latitude and 98.6 degrees West longitude, moving northwest at 19 kilometers per hour (km/h).

The tropical storm's minimum central pressure was 1,008 hectopascals, and the maximum sustained winds decreased to 45 km/h.

In the coming hours, the remnants of this system will continue causing heavy rains in the eastern states of Mexico, Insmet stated, adding that this will be the last tropical cyclone advisory for this organism.

The North Atlantic hurricane season extends from June 1 to November 30, and is expected to be active this year, with the forecast for the formation of at least 15 tropical cyclones, eight of which could reach hurricane strength.
