Cuban Vice-president Winds-up Visit to Angola to Head for Namiba

Havana, March 19 (acn) Cuba´s first vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel concludes a three-day official visit to Angola on Thursday after meeting with local government officials and will depart for Namibia, third and last leg of his African tour.

Following a meeting with Angolan Higher Education minister Adao Gaspar Ferreira do Nascimento and a press conference on his visit, Diaz-Canel will head for Namibia, where he will attend the swearing-in ceremony for president-elect Hage G. Geingob.
In Angola, the top government Cuban official met with foreign minister Georges Chicoty, with Parliament president Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos and with the country´s vice-president Manuel Vicente. He also met with State minister Edeltrudes da Costa.
In all these meetings, both sides expressed their willingness to strengthen the historic relations of friendship and cooperation between Havana and Luanda. Such links have thus far developed in the areas of health, education, energy, water resources, and others.
Cuba and Angola established full diplomatic relations on November 1975, and a year later they signed a general cooperation agreement, which led to the setting up of the Cuba-Angola Bilateral Cooperation Commission.
Previously, Diaz-Canel visited South Africa and he is also scheduled to visit India, according to PL news agency.
