Havana, Sept 24 (ACN) The UN General Assembly’s recently opened debate took on one of the most reiterated demands of UN member states: the end of the US blockade against Cuba.
Right at the same plenary session where the international community has voted the lifting of the US’s hostile Cuba policy, Colombia’s Gustavo Petro slashed against the unfair and absurd implementation of the blockade against Cuba.
Petro rejected US pressures against what he called “rebel nations who do not submit themselves to US supremacy, like Cuba or Venezuela.
Meanwhile, Brazil’s Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva described as unjustifiable the inclusion of Cuba on the US list of States Sponsors of Terrorism.
The forum also listened to Angola’s Joao Lourenzo who demanded the cease of the US siege against Cuba and the sanctions against Zimbabwe.
Over the past three decades the UN General Assembly has annually voted the Cuban Resolution demanding the end of the US blockade of the island nation.
Last year, the Cuban resolution was adopted with 187 votes in favor, two against (the US and Israel), and the abstention of Ukraine.
