HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 24 (ACN) Armando Rodríguez Batista, Cuban Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment (CITMA), is paying a working visit to Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Rodriguez Batista met with Mansur Oshurbayev, Kazakh deputy minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, to discuss possible forms of joint cooperation, as well as with Yerlan Sydykov, rector of the Eurasian National University (ENU), and Ruslan Urazalin, director of the Americas division of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
According to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sydykov pointed out that he has fond memories of Cuba and of many Cubans who studied in various former Soviet republics, including Kazakhstan, and proposed to continue the collaboration between the universities of both nations, marked by a MoU signed between the ENU and CITMA.
Rodriguez Batista toured the university facilities and gave a lecture on the development of Cuban science and the island's plans to tackle climate change, among other topics of general interest.
In a meeting with representatives of Kazakh universities, institutions and friends at the Cuban embassy in Astana, the deputy minister described the damage caused to the Cuban people by the U.S. blockade.
