Havana, March 21 (ACN) Cuban deputy foreign minister Elio Rodriguez and Liberia’s Vice-president Jewel Howard Taylor agreed on Tuesday to deepen bilateral relations between their countries.
On his Twitter account, the Cuban official referred to his recent working visit to that African nation and his meeting with the Liberian vice-president, which proved the positive relationship between the two nations.
Rodriguez also met with other Liberian officials, such as Bhopal Chambers, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Deweh Gray, interim minister of Foreign Affairs. The two sides expressed their willingness to strength bilateral parliamentary and cooperation links; they also addressed regional and multilateral issues.
The Cuban diplomat thanked the African Union for its solidarity with Cuba and its rejection against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island nation.
Elio Rodriguez also met with Henry Boimah Fahnbulleh, first deputy foreign minister; both officials addressed the positive pace of bilateral relations and current potential to further expand them. The meeting stressed the role of the Group of 77 plus China, currently chaired by Cuba.
Meanwhile, Liberian Health minister Wilhemina Jallah acknowledged Cuba’s support of her country against Ebola in 2014 and 2015, as well as the training of professionals.
Rodriguez also referred to his talks with Liberian Minister for Sports and Youths, Dester Zeogar Wilson about boosting cooperation in that sector.
The Cuban delegation which visited Liberia also included the director for Sub-Saharan at the Cuban Foreign Ministry Luis Alberto Amoros and the Charge d’ Affairs at the Cuban Embassy in the Republic of Liberia.
