Cuban GM Bruzon climbs in the Chess World Ranking

HAVANA, Cuba, May 2 (acn) Cuban Lazaro Bruzon added seven points to his ELO coefficient and with 2,664 units will remain throughout May in the 79th place of the chess world ranking.

Bruzon, who is again the local leader due to the suspension of Leinier Dominguez, earned the aforementioned figure mainly for the crown he won in the last Mexico´s National Open Championship, and also ranks seventh in the Americas.
In the Cuban ranking, he´s followed by Yuniesky Quesada (2 622), Yusnel Bacallao (2 595), the local champion Yuri Gonzalez (2 564) and Yasser Quesada (2 558).
As far as the universal top-ten, it remained with the same members, but the ordering of some of them varied, but without affecting Norwegian Magnus Carlsen who appears immovable in the top with 2 843 points.
The most outstanding note in the super elite was for American Fabiano Caruana, who raised from third seat to the second one after adding 18 units and now amounts 2 822.
They are followed by Azeri Shakriyar Mamedyarov with 2 808 points, and then appear Russian Vladimir Kramnik (2 792), Chinese Liren Ding (2 791), French Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (2 789), Russian Sergey Karjakin (2 782), American Wesley So (2 778), Dutch Anish Giri (2 776) and American Hikaru Nakamura (2 769).
