Five Cuban boxers win their bouts in Worlds (junior)HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 22 (ACN) The five Cubans who climbed up to the ring achieved wins yesterday at the World Youth Boxing Championship staged at the Russian city of St. Petersburg.

Light flyweight Jorge Griñán, flyweight Elio Crespo, light heavyweight Osvary Morell and cruiser Dainier Peró added up their second wins, in a day of a happy debut also to the light welterweight Damian Lescay.
Griñan beat 5-0 (29-28, 29-28, 30-27, 30-26, 30-27) Japanese Takumi Tamura, Crespo did the same (30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27) over Puerto Rican Bryan Almeyda and Morrel knocked out in the third round Romanian Stefan Patrascu.
The website of the tournament also revealed that Peró defeated 5-0 (30-26, 30-26, 30-26, 30-27, 30-26) Azeri Elbrus Akperov and Lescay won by the same verdict (30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27) over Kazakh Iliyas Mirkhatuly.
These five Cuban boxers will fight for bronze medals today against Ukrainian Oleg Chulyacheyev, Kazakh Aidos Arapov, American Christian Montano, Polish Kamil Offman and Romanian Nicolae-Florian Schiopu, in that order.
Cuba has now balance of 12 wins and just two losses, and today it will seek two further advances to the medals discussion through featherweight Alexei Rodriguez as rival of Turkish Ali Ihsan Alagas and welterweight Isamy Mesa versus Slovak Andrej Csemez.
