HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 7 (acn) Cuban GM Lazaro Bruzon defended his unbeaten status on Friday to look for a third win in the 3rd Millionaire Chess Tournament played at a frenzied pace in Atlantic City, U.S.A., where there will be several days of double rounds.
Bruzon (2 615 ELO) was scheduled to play vs. local FM Levy Rozman (2354), who was also undefeated, although the Caribbean player was the clear favorite to win this game and continue appearing in the vanguard group.
In his two previous matches, Bruzon defeated the also hosts Bobby G. Moore (2275) and Alexander Katz (2369).
In total, 16 players have achieved so far two wins, including Venezuelan Eduardo Iturrizaga (2658), American Jeffery Xiong (2647), Russian Alexander Shimanov (2639) and Peruvian Emilio Córdova (2637).
Like the previous edition, the seven-round Swiss system will be used to define advances to semifinals matches.
The winners will advance to the title discussion while losers will fight for third place.
