Excellent Games on Sunday in Cuban National Baseball SeriesHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 19 (acn) The teams of Matanzas, Ciego de Avila, Villa Clara and Guantánamo completed their sweeps over their respective rivals in the continuation of the Cuban baseball championship in its 56 th edition.

First to achieve 30 wins in the current season of the national baseball classic, with only three losses, the Matanzas Crocodiles beat Santiago de Cuba twice on Sunday, 8-6 and 14-4; the last of these matches was marked by the offensive of Anibal Medina, who hit 5 for 6 with two home runs and six RBIs.

Winner for the fifth time this season, lefty Robelio Carrillo allowed only three hits with five strikeouts in six innings and two thirds, and Villa Clara beat Sancti Spiritus 5-0 to complete the sweep in the sub-series, supported by a home run and two RBIs by Yurien Vizcaino.
In other results of the day, Industriales defeated Cienfuegos 3-2, Camagüey won against Isla de la Juventud 4-1, and Granma beat Artemisa 8-1, while Mayabeque and Las Tunas sealed their match.
Matanzas (30-3) leads the Cuban baseball championship, followed by Ciego de Avila (21-12), Holguin (19-11), Villa Clara (17-11), Guantanamo (19-14), Camagüey (18-14), Granma (17-15), Las Tunas (16-15), Industriales (16-16), Isla de la Juventud (14-16), Cienfuegos (14-19), Pinar del Río (10-17), Artemisa (12-21), Santiago de Cuba (11-21), Mayabeque (8-21) and Sancti Spiritus (8-24).
