HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 23 (ACN) Osvaldo Vento Montiller, president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation ( INDER by its Spanish acronym), recalled today the work of Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the creation of that sports organization.
On Twitter, Vento Montiller assured that they will continue the work promoted by the Commander in Chief, as a faithful defender of the healthy practice of physical exercise.
In his tweet, accompanied by a postcard with children playing, he included some words of Fidel: "Without the Revolution we could not have even dreamed of starting to develop a great sports movement in our homeland".
Omar Venega, vice president of the organization, on the same social network, also celebrated the new birthday by recalling the ideas of what is considered the greatest athlete.
On February 23, 1961, INDER was created, which since then was institutionally in charge of organizing all sports life in the country.
Then, in March 1962, the new institution issued a Resolution prohibiting professionalism in any sport practiced in Cuba, with the aim of eliminating any commercialism in that field.
