Vietnam is willing to support Cuba in agriculture, Prime Minister saysHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 12 (ACN) Vietnam will continue to strengthen cooperation with Cuba in order to ensure a stable supply of rice and encourage investments by companies from the South-East Asian country in Cuba, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc confirmed on Wednesday.

When holding a meeting with the Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, the Vietnamese premier also affirmed his country's willingness to support the Latin American nation in the cultivation of corn and rice and shrimp farming, based on the efficient use of the potential of the island.
On the other hand, he reiterated his country's constant support for Cuba's position in the United Nations forums.
After referring to the special relations between the two nations, Xuan Phuc reiterated his gratitude for the energetic support of the Communist Party and the Cuban people for Vietnam both in the past struggle for independence and in the current construction of the country and socialism.
Likewise, he expressed his joy for receiving the Cuban official, who is in Vietnam leading a delegation from his country to participate in the XXXVII Session of the Intergovernmental Commission.
At the same time, Malmierca referred to Cuba's efforts to promote national progress, despite the numerous difficulties caused by the economic blockade.
On the other hand, he highly valued the concession of rice from Hanoi to Havana and advocated the continuity of this activity.
He also highlighted the determination of both parties to reach a trade value of 500 million dollars by 2019 and expressed the desire of the Latin American nation to increase exports to Vietnam, especially medical services and biological products.
The visitor also reported on his country's current efforts to readjust existing mechanisms and policies in order to improve the investment environment and attract more foreign capital.
