Private Initiative Expands in Central Cuba

Ciego de Avila, Jan 10 (ACN) With a total of nearly 120 micro, small and medium companies the private initiative kept growing in the central province of Ciego de Avila in 2022, which created over 3 thousand 400 new jobs.

According to the provincial government, most of the new companies operate in the service area, including food processing, while others are linked to manufacture and construction materials.

Idilexy Morales, company owner said he expects to expand his coffee shop service and set up a logistics or wholesale shop and even explore new business opportunities in local municipalities in Ciego de Avila.

Meanwhile, Marisleidy Fernandez, marketing executive with a company operating in the beauty and make-up area said she has been successful in the past year and expects to have a place in the local domestic trade network in several Cuban provinces. Her company produces 33 medicinal soap varieties, creams and natural oils among other products which are on sale at local shops.

Other local private businesses produce and export charcoal, fruit pulp, sweets like guava bars which are marketed in other countries.

The vice-president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce Ruben Ramos recently stressed here the need to keep advancing the production by non-state businesses of export goods.

Havana, Jan 10 (ACN) Cuba and Chile are holding their 6th Political Consultations between their foreign ministries on January 11, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

Chile’s undersecretary for Foreign Relations Ximena Fuentes, who leads her country’s delegation to the talks, was welcomed Tuesday afternoon in Havana by Carlos de Cespedes, director for South America at the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

The resumption of the political mechanism between the two countries will allow bilateral exchange on the process of regional integration and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

Chile and Cuba share historic and cultural relations and have expressed their willingness to advance bilateral cooperation, economic and commercial links.
