Construction work advances on moringa processing plant in western Cuba

PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba, Sep 20 (ACN) The civil works of the moringa (Moringa oleifera) processing plant in Pinar del Rio, one of the three of its kind to be built in Cuba and whose destination will be the pharmaceutical industry, is a little more than 70 % completed.

The plant already has its technological equipment, while assembly will begin in October and start-up is expected for the end of November.

According to Ivan Alvarez Torres, in charge of this industry, it is estimated that 20 tons of moringa powder will be produced each year, at a rate of 1.66 tons per month.

Moringa provides multiple benefits for human health, since it is a product that contains 46 antioxidant active ingredients, B complex vitamins, folic acid, omega 3, oleic acid, chromium and zinc, among others.
