Participants highlight opportunities of FitCuba 2022

HAVANA, Cuba, May 6 (ACN) Participants highlighted the significance of the XL International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FitCuba 2022), an event that has served to promote this dynamic activity of the economy, which seeks to reactivate after almost two years of forced stop due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Silvia Peralta, director of Havanatur-Celimar, one of the branches of the international group, exclusively told the Cuban News Agency (ACN) the joy of her team for returning to a new edition of the commercial exchange in order to establish alliances and close deals.

We have guests from many regions and the branch has received in the context of the event groups from Latin America and Spain, she stressed.

Alain Peña, leader of the medium-sized private company Pyxel Solutions, explained that for almost nine years the then project, which brought together mostly IT companies, has been attending or is interested in the Fair, an opportunity to promote its services, many of them aimed precisely at the industry.

He said that during the event they are closing projects or studying the feasibility of others with the Electronics Group for Tourism and the Cubatur agency.

Marina Martínez, commercial specialist of the Konfort joint venture, said that the factory has been claiming as its main economic result for several years now the fact that Cuba does not have to import a single spring mattress to furnish its hotel plant.

At the suppliers' exhibition, held at the Palma Real Hotel as part of the event, she stated that they aspire to offer new furniture to the tourist sector, with the aim of gradually replacing imports of components and using those produced throughout the country.

Those interviewed by ACN agreed that the event is the starting point to encourage the arrival of tourists from non-traditional regions, and consolidate the usual ones, such as the Canadian market.

Before COVID-19, Cuba received more than four million foreign visitors and aims to close 2022 with 2.5 million, a significant figure according to the gradual recovery of the so-called leisure industry in the Caribbean and the world.

FitCuba 2022 closes today in the beach resort of Varadero with a ceremony at the Royalton Hicacos Hotel, one of the most outstanding facilities in the Cuban main resort.
