MATANZAS, Cuba, Feb 28 ( ACN) The Oil and Gas Well Drilling and Capital Repair Company (Empercap by its Spanish acronym) stands out for its innovative practices, in addition to the design of products and services in favor of the efficient use of natural resources throughout the production chain.
According to information provided to the Cuban News Agency by Nelvis Gomez Campos, deputy head of environment in the western territory, the company implements actions in terms of continuous improvement in its performance with a responsible attitude towards the natural environment.
The recovery of the remaining crude oil during the repair of wells, the use of phytoremediation - through the use of plants - to reduce soil contamination caused by hydrocarbons, and the reuse of wastewater in the scrubbing plant are among the initiatives.
Empercap, winner of the 2021 Provincial Environmental Award in Matanzas, also stands out for its use of water-saving sanitary devices and furniture, as well as for a system for treating oily wastewater.
The entity, which belongs to the Oil Drilling Company EPEP-Centro, replaced air conditioning equipment with R-22 refrigerant gas for others with R-410, thus contributing to the elimination of ozone-depleting substances.
The delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) developed, during the previous year, different actions to raise environmental education both in companies and other entities and among citizens, Gomez Campos concluded.
