HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 5 (acn) Cuban artist Milton Bernal, known as the Tobacco Painter, received on Monday a royal welcome by Italian authorities as part of the recent celebration of the 11th Friends Meeting of the Partagas House.
In statements to the press the Cuban artist pointed out that he received the key to the city of the region of Matelica in the community of Macerata from the city Council person Alessandro Delpriori.
According to Bernal an exhibition with over 20 pieces was held with renowned national and international figures related with the world of cigars like Sir Winston Churchill, Alejandro Robaina, Giuseppe Garibaldi, Jaime Partagas and Compay Segundo.
The exhibition included pieces in oil and incrusted in natural tobacco leaves that impressed the public and the Italian media outlets highlighting the quality and novelty of its technique, only of its type in the world, he said.
During the encounter, the Cuban ambassador to Italy Alba Beatriz Soto praised the creation of Bernal and thanked the local authorities for the gesture towards the artist and stressed that the event on cigars was an occasion to strengthen cultural exchange between the two nations.
Graduated in Journalism from the University of Havana and Master in Marketing and Communication and Business Administration, Bernal also graduated from the Spanish Higher Institute of Marketing Studies.
This self-taught painter is member of the Visual Arts Development Center, Cuban Association of Artesian Artists, National Association of Publicists and Propaganda in addition to the International Federation of Visual Arts in Barcelona, Spain and the International Artlive from France.
