HAVANA, Cuba, May 19 (acn) The phonograms Caribe Nostrum by maestro Guido López-Gavilán and Eternal Music Chamber Orchestra, and La salsa tiene mi son, by Elito Revé and his Charangón won the Grand Prize of the 20th International Fair Cubadisco 2016.
At the ceremony, held yesterday at Arcos de Cristal Ballroom of Tropicana Cabaret, the musicians thanked the recognition, and the work done by Colibri and Bis Music record labels which welcomed these projects.
In the words of its author, the album Caribe Nostrum owes its name to the homonymous track that starts the CD, which according to him, has a very varied production, and includes several genres where Cuban identity excels, some of the works are made for string orchestra, piano and clarinet.
On the other hand, La salsa tiene mi son is an anthological album in tribute to Elio Reve Matos, it has 13 tracks and it also contains featurings with renowned Cuban artists such as Pablo Milanes, Paulo FG, Haila María Mompié, Mario Rivera, Isaac Delgado, and Puerto Ricans Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Jose Alberto El Canario.
The jury also awarded four Special Awards to the CDs Hay quien precisa, by Liuba Maria Hevia and Venezuelan Cecilia Todd; Tronco Viejo, by Dominican Johnny Ventura; Collection A Guitarra Limpia, by Pablo de la Torriente Brau Center and the CD-DVD Umbrales, by the recently deceased guitarist and composer Sergio Vitier.
Other productions that were awarded were Caminos abiertos, by Eduardo Sandoval, Feeling Marta, by Gema Corredera, Blues de Habana, by Zule Guerra, Soy, by Buena Fe duet, 13 Regalos, by Kiki Corona, Alrededor del mundo, by Exaudi Chorus and Vamos p´al monte, by Barbarito Torres and his band.
