HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 29 (acn) Cuban art is present in Belgium with an exhibition in which 16 women of the island joined their talents to honor International Women's Day, to be marked on March 8.
The exhibition brings together artists who, as pointed out by specialist Sachie Hernandez, "from the aesthetic and ethical commitment to their vocation have been pushing margins, along with many other actors, so that women in Cuba are today freer and fulfilled."
The exhibition "Signs of Cuba: Female Proposals" will be opened to the public at the European Parliament on March 1-3; at the headquarters of UNESCO, in Paris, on March 15-18; and the Atmosfera Cohiba Hall of the Belgian city of Antwerp on March 20-24.
The project is a joint effort of the Embassy of the island to that country and the Group of Friendship with the People of Cuba of the European Parliament, according to a note released by the aforementioned embassy.
It has the support of the permanent delegation of the Caribbean nation to UNESCO; of entities such as the National Council of Fine Arts of Cuba; friends of Cuba; and Cubans living in Belgium.
