Cuban Special Municipality hosts Japanese exhibition

NUEVA GERONA, Cuba, Aug 16 (ACN) The “Martha Machado” art gallery in Isle of Youth is hosting during the current month the temporary exhibition “Three Arts, One Feeling”, a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the Japanese colony in the special municipality, the largest in Cuba.

This exhibition, organized by the Municipal Council of Plastic Arts, gathers works by outstanding artists representing different techniques and traditions of Japanese art.

Among the exponents is Nancy Oropesa Barcelo, who uses the Mizuhiki technique, a traditional craft in the country of the rising sun, which consists of creating intricate designs with paper strings.

Her work is complemented by a personal collection of prints by the renowned artist Kitagawa Utamaro (1753-1806), one of the most influential artists of the Ukiyo-e movement, known for his depictions of beautiful women, or bijingas, that capture the essence of Japanese aesthetics.

The exhibition also includes the proposals of Aleida Rodriguez Kato, a Sansei artist who also employs the Mizuhiki technique to explore contemporary themes through a cultural lens.

Visitors will be able to admire not only the works of the talented artists, but also a special collection of Japanese dolls, which give a playful and nostalgic touch to the exhibition.

Three arts, one feeling” celebrates the creativity and talent of the Japanese community in Isle of Youth. Invaluable opportunity for the public during August to enjoy a unique cultural experience, highlighting the beauty and diversity of Japanese art, while appreciating and better understanding this rich artistic tradition.
