SANCTI SPIRITUS, Cuba, Sep 22 (ACN) The strong historical and cultural ties between Cuba and the Canary Islands were captured in two documentaries currently screened in Cabaiguán, the Cuban municipality where most emigrants from that Spanish region settled.
Produced by Ibora Productions, Cabaiguán, capital canaria de Cuba and Canarios en la guerra de Cuba (1895-1898) present audiences with the views of historians who delve into local facts, traditions and customs to offer a more comprehensive picture.
Ibora director Federico José Pérez said that this is the fourth time he travels to Cuba and, although his work is more focused on the production of television programs, he is strongly attracted to the bond between both lands and its mutual cultural impact.
Canarios en la guerra de Cuba (1895-1898) tells the adventures of five immigrants who fought in the Liberation War against Spain and even reached the rank of General, whereas Cabaiguán, capital canaria de Cuba addresses traditions with deep roots in this central region and the indissoluble link between both peoples.
