Havana, Sept 12 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of Cuba’s Communist Party and President of the Republic of Cuba attended plenary sessions of the political organizations in eastern Cuban provinces to check on current economic and social challenges.
During his visits to the provinces of Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo, the Cuban top political leader was accompanied by Communist Party Organization Secretary Roberto Morales Ojeda, also member of the Politburo of Cuba’s Communist Party.
In his remarks at the Communist Party plenary session in the city of Manzanillo, Granma province, Diaz-Canel said that the country’s current circumstances pose a difficult challenge, but it can be overcome with intelligent work, creativity and rigorous control of all processes.
The Cuban head of state said that all efforts aim at reaching the year’s end with concrete results to the benefit of the people: larger food availability, quality services, the reduction of current high prices, and better assistance of vulnerable citizens.
Diaz-Canel also presided over the plenary session of the political organization in Santiago de Cuba to follow up on the indications given in previous visits this year to that territory, regarding the economic performance of the province, internal party policies and actions to correct distortions and boost the local economy.
In Guantanamo province, the political leader and head of state also considered, along the members of the organization in the plenary session, issues addressed in previous visits and the major challenges posed on the local economic and social development.
The visit to the eastern region comes after similar plenary sessions held in the western provinces of Artemisa and Pinar del Rio earlier this month. The communist party meetings will take place through the country to evaluate local political and economic actions in 88 municipalities visited during the first half of the year.lc
