Havana, Oct 24 (ACN) As part of initiatives celebrating Cuban Culture Day on October 20 and beyond, the local Bannzil Kreyol Kiba cultural project will mark International Creole Day on October 28 in Havana.
The project aims at preserving Creole which is considered part of Cuban identity and Caribbean Mother Tongue.
Creole was declared heritage of humanity after its international day was declared in the Seychelles Islands in 1979 and it is considered the second most spoken language in Cuba, given the number of descendants from Caribbean nations where the language has traditionally be spoken.
The celebrations, called by the Bannzil Group, led by journalist Hilario Batista of Haitian descent and by the Haitian community here, will be attended by members of the Caribbean diplomatic corps in Cuba and officials from cultural institutions as well as outstanding intellectuals.
