Havana, July 10 (ACN) Cuba ratified its willingness to keep strengthening bilateral bonds of friendship and cooperation with The Bahamas, the island’s Foreign Ministry tweeted on Monday and congratulated the people and government of that nation on the occasion of their Independence Day.
Cuban deputy prime minister Ines Maria Chapman travelled to The Bahamas to attend festivities marking the historic date –July 10, 1973--when that country got its independence from the British Crown.
During a meeting on Monday, Chapman and Bahamian Premier Philip Davis stressed the need to strengthen unity between their nations and to keep working on issues of common interest such as climate change, and bilateral cooperation, which should expand to sectors like sports.
Cuba and The Bahamas will mark the 49th year of the establishment of bilateral relations in November. Both countries share cooperation in healthcare, transportation, tourism, migration and climate change adaptation; they also defend common positions at international forums.
