VILLA CLARA, Cuba, May 22 (ACN) Research results that reaffirm the will and capacity of the Cuban scientific community to preserve riverside ecosystems will be presented on May 23 and 24, in the province of Villa Clara, during the 6th edition of the National Workshop on Coastal Zone Management Centro Costas 2023.
Edelkis Rodriguez Moya, director of the Center for Environmental Studies of the Cuban central territory, -the entity that sponsors the event along with the international project Coastal Resilience (CR)- announced that the Workshop will bring together researchers, specialists, managers, communicators, educators and entrepreneurs.
It also gathers producers and executives linked to natural sciences from scientific and educational centers, offices of environmental regulation and security, communities, local development projects, national parks and territorial delegations of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.
To be held under the slogan "For the resilience of our coasts, the meeting is organized in three commissions (Biodiversity and Natural Resources, Environmental Management and Education, and Adaptation to Climate Change) and there will be a special exhibition of posters in digital format.
The workshop will also share monitoring experiences in mangrove forests, beaches, coral reefs, marine waters and areas where community-based climate change adaptation solutions are being implemented, such as rainwater harvesting, the use of renewable energy sources and the creation of resilient courtyards in coastal localities.
