HAVANA, Cuba, May 15 (ACN) On the occasion of the International Museum Day to be celebrated on May 18, a week of celebrations was opened today at the Museum of the City of Havana.
The celebrations, which will last until May 20, will commemorate the centennial of Marta Arjona, sculptor, ceramist and one of the essential names in the conservation and diffusion of Cuban heritage.
Gladys Collazo Usallan, general director of Cultural Heritage of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana (OHCH by its Spanish acronym), said that the Directorate of Cultural Management and the Directorate of Museums work as a great team where creativity and the desire to do work flourish.
She highlighted the role of the San Cristobal Travel Agency, the international cooperation projects, the Cabinet of Conservation and Restoration, and the Directorate of Investments that execute plans to make Havana's Historic Center a living space.
During the opening ceremony, OHCH workers were recognized for over 25 years and from different occupations that have defended the cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, of each space of that institution.
Under the slogan "Museums, sustainability and wellbeing", this May 18 International Museum Day will be dedicated to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals, mainly those related to health and wellbeing, life in terrestrial ecosystems, quality education, sustainable cities and communities, and climate action.
