SANTA CLARA, Cuba, May 2 (ACN) The Tropical Viands Research Institute of Villa Clara(central Cuba) , located in the municipality of Santo Domingo, launched the call for the 5th International Symposium INIVIT 2023, scheduled to be held from October 24 to 27 in the northern cay of the central geography.
With the estimated representation of at least a dozen Latin American and European countries, the event will receive, until July 30 of this year, papers from Cuban and foreign authors who contribute to the advanced study of roots, rhizomes, tubers, bananas, plantains, bananas and papaya, with the aim of exchanging experiences that contribute to the scientific development of agriculture and food sovereignty in the region.
Speaking to the Cuban News Agency, Sergio Juan Rodriguez Morales, director of the entity, confirmed that the meeting will insist on the need to outline policies not only aimed at increasing production yields, but also at strengthening agricultural practices consistent with environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
They will also discuss the circular economy as a model of responsible production and consumption, local and family farming innovation with a gender focus, agribusiness and agribusiness from the perspective of competitiveness and sustainability, agroecology and efficient use of bio-inputs, and information and communication technology applied to agriculture, he said.
Founded in September 1967, the institute becomes the guiding center of Cuban studies associated with the development of plantain, rhizomes and tubers; at the same time it functions as a mediator between the country's scientific work teams and the productive base in the fields of the archipelago.
