HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 17 (ACN) The Ozone Technical Office (OTOZ) and its representatives in the country begin today in Matanzas(western Cuba) their first face-to-face meeting since the time of the pandemic, in coordination with the delegation in the province of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.
Nelson Espinosa Pena, Ph.D., president of the institution, will provide information on the results of the institution's management in 2022-2023.
He will also talk about the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, the largest city in the province of Quebec, Canada, entered into force on January 1, 2019 to establish that over the next 30 years to reduce by more than 80% the projected production and consumption of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), organic compounds used in air conditioners and other devices.
OTOZ will give awards to outstanding companies for the elimination of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS), particularly in human health, according to the event's agenda, provided to the Cuban News Agency.
Another issue included in the discussions has to do with the new Courses of Good Practices of Refrigeration and Hydrocarbons, as well as the process of recovery, recycling, regeneration, destruction and containment of ODS.
