MATANZAS, Cuba, Mar 7 (ACN) A workshop on Tarea Vida(Task Life), the Cuban State Plan to face climate change, will be included in the agenda of the 11th International Scientific Convention "CIUM 2023", hosted by the University of Matanzas (UM) in western Cuba and which will take place between the 21st and 23rd.
According to information provided by Angel Alfonso Martinez, a specialist from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA by its Spanish acronym), a session will be held to present the region's progress and challenges in facing this global phenomenon.
The meeting will be an opportunity to present studies on future climate scenarios in the western province of Matanzas, and several entities will share experiences in the fulfillment of the Task Life, such as the tourism and agri-food sectors.
Representatives of entities from the construction, oil production, electro-energy sector, hydraulic resources, and non-state economic actors will also present their plans to act in the face of already perceptible effects such as temperature increase and sea level rise.
In the words of Edgar Borot Peraza, president of the CIUM 2023 management committee, published by the Giron newspaper, the event is expected to be attended by universities from countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, and several European nations, although the call for participants remains open.
The Convention will seek synergies between universities in Cuba and other nations to contribute to the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda, aimed at achieving economic, social and environmental sustainability on a planetary scale.
