Havana, Jan 24 (ACN) Cuba affirmed its commitment and political will to the mandate of the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization –UNESCO, said firs deputy foreign minister Gerardo Peñalver.
On his Twitter account, the Cuban government official referred to his meeting on Monday with visiting UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, Gabriela Ramos, which he described as fruitful.
Peñalver recalled that Ramos is in Havana to grant the UNESCO Jose Marti prize this Tuesday as part of the 5th International Conference on World Balance.
Ramos reviewed some of the projects underway in Cuba in tune with the mandate of that UN organization. She kicked off her visit by touring the Old Section of Havana, a historic center, declared Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1982.
The distinguished guest also met with members of the Cuban civil society at the United Nations Cuban Association, where she exchanged views on good practices and policies to implement concepts that favor united societies.
Ramos will conclude his visit to Cuba on January 25th.
