MATANZAS, Cuba, Sep 14 (ACN) “Mexico is still in Cuba,” said Miguel Diaz Reynoso, ambassador to Cuba, in a meeting with Cuban intellectuals in the Office of the Curator in Havana whose views reflected the historical links between the two nations.
“I am pleased to visit Matanzas once again, as we are linked to this city by years of friendship; I came here for the first time almost 30 years ago to work as cultural attaché,” he remarked. “It is great to be back to work on cooperation, despite the unfortunate accident situation in the industrial zone a few weeks ago, a moment marked by solidarity, cooperation and brotherhood.”
The week’s program features performances and exhibitions in various sites, including the Firefighters Museum, as well as a visit to a local publishing house where unique copies of Mexican and Cuban authors are in display.Curator Leonel Perez Orozco remarked that archeological excavations prove that Mexican art arrived in this city centuries ago, as did Mexican immigrants, on whose behalf the street called Guachinango has kept its name.
