Artemisa, Cuba, Aug 1 (ACN) A group of 80 activists from Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and the Dominican Republic set up on August 1st the 27th Latin American and Caribbean Voluntary Work and Solidarity-with-Cuba Brigade in this western Cuban province.
As part of the brigade launch, the activists laid a floral wreath at the monument of Cuban revolutionary leader and hero Julio Antonio Mella, at the international camp named after him in the Artemisa municipality of Caimito.
The setting up of the supportive group was attended by local Communist Party and government authorities.
In his remarks at the ceremony, the president of the Cuban Friendship Institute Fernando Gonzalez Llort appreciated the setting up of the brigade after two years under the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been largely controlled here thanks to the achievements of the island’s health and scientific sector.
Despite actions aimed at planting hatred and damage national unity un Cuba, the main goal of the Cuban government and the people is to keep building their socialist project, with justice for all.
Gonzalez Llort, who bears the title of Hero of the Republic of Cuba, said that amidst hardships and shortages, the Cuban people counts of the friendship of many humble people from around the world.
The head of Communication and Electoral Policy with the Youth of Venezuela’s United Socialist Party, Genesis Garvett, expressed how comfortable is to visit a nation that makes you feel at a home for all revolutionaries of the continental left.
The 27th Latin American and Caribbean Voluntary Work and Solidarity-with-Cuba Brigade will stay here till August 14 meeting a tight agenda, which includes agricultural work, visits to centers of cultural interest and a solidarity gathering dedicated to the 96th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz.
