Havana, July 28 (ACN) The Summit of the Youth Network of the Non Aligned Movement is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, aimed at uniting the youths of the countries under western chase.
According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s Twitter account, members of Cuba’s Young Communist League are attending the event, underway till July 29.
The information refers to remarks at the Summit by Suniel Sosa, head of the Young Communist League’s International Relations Department. Sosa briefed the audience about the way Cuba has faced challenges such as destabilization campaigns and media manipulation orchestrated from US territory.
The enemies of the Cuban people and their Revolution intend to impose a fake image about the Cuban youths distanced from the values of the historic generation of revolutionaries, said Sosa and assured that such allegations are rejected by the real continuity staged by the Cuban youths.
The youth leader said that NAM is the most important tool of political coordination for South countries, and Cuba, as founder of the movement, is honored to have been its first Latin American member nation.
He appreciated the event’s stance in defense of the inalienable rights of the Cuban people to free determination and to keep building and independent, democratic, prosperous and sustainable society. Sosa also stressed NAM’s historic position against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba and the Helms-Burton Act, which reveals the highly aggressive levels of Washington’s policy against the island’s resistance.
The Summit intends to unite nations amidst a complex international scenario marked several crises, which have been worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic and this is a big challenge, said Sosa who stressed the significance of strengthening bonds among youth organizations for mutual learning, cooperation and the preservation of historic memory.
