Havana, Dec 3 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez congratulated Nambia’s President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndatiwah.
Nandi-Ndaitwah is the first woman to have been elected president of Namibia after her victory at last November 27th presidential elections.
Namibia’s Electoral Commission reported that the 72-year-old candidate and representative of the ruling Southwest African People’s Organization (SWAPO) won 57.31 percent of the valid votes, so it is not necessary to go to a second round.
Namibia is the second African nation to have a woman president after Samia Suluhu Hassan assumed Tanzania’s presidential seat by mandate of the country’s legislative body, after former president John Magufuli passed away.
