Cuban Head of State Met New Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum

Havana, Oct 1 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel conveyed Mexico’s new President Claudia Sheinbaum congratulations from the Cuban people and government.

On his X account https://t.ly/xOH6I , the Cuban head of state wrote that during his meeting with Sheinbaum, who was inaugurated president on Tuesday, he wished her success in the construction of the second stage of the Fourth Transformation of Mexican public life.

Diaz-Canel and Sheinbaum ratified their willingness to keep strengthening bilateral relations and common interests towards the development of their nations.

The Cuban President along other leaders attended the inauguration of the fist female President of Mexico at the San Lazaro Legislative Palace. He said that outgoing President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador confirmed and consolidated the historic bonds of friendship between Cuba and Mexico; he also acted as a great friend and brother.

In her first speech after her inauguration, the Mexican President said that 9.5 million citizens were brough out of poverty without increasing taxes, inequalities were reduced and Mexico is now among the least indebted countries with the Organization for Cooperation and Economic Development, while having its own hard currency.

This, she said is due to change of the country’s development model—going from the failed neo-liberal model and regime of corruption and privilege, to one that stemmed from the rich history of Mexico based on loving the people and honesty.
