Havana, Sept 11 (ACN) Former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori passed away Wednesday in the capital Lima at 86 after a long struggle against Cancer, as announced by his family and lawyer.
Fujimori ruled Peru with an iron fist from 1990 to 2000; his followers considered that he stabilized and boosted the country’s economy, while his detractors question him for the killing of people and violation of human rights during his government.
Fujimori was extradited from Chile in 2007 and given 25 prison years for two massacres, though he did not met the full sentence. A trial for the killing of innocent civilians was still pending on him at the moment of his death.
