Cuban Deputy Prime Minister is visiting the Dominican Republic



HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 15 (ACN) A Cuban delegation headed by deputy prime minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca is paying a working visit to the Dominican Republic that includes attending the swearing-in ceremony of President Luis Abinader, re-elected for another four-year mandate.

As part of the visit, Tapia Fonseca has met with former President Hipólito Mejía and with several Dominican ministers and businessmen, as well as with the staff of the Cuban embassy on the occasion of the homage to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on his 98th birthday.

The official also toured agricultural areas and food processing industries in the province of Peravia and met with the director of the National Council of Free Zones, Daniel Liranzo. Likewise, a trip is scheduled to the city of Baní to visit the Máximo Gómez Polytechnic and other historical places linked to the famous Dominican patriot.

Featured in Tapia Fonseca’s Thursday program is a meeting with former President Leonel Fernández and the participation in a reception offered by the Dominican Government to the delegations who will attend Abinader’s inauguration.
