Cuban Foreign Minister hails end of holy month of Ramadan

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 10 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla offered his warmest congratulations to Muslims in Cuba and the World on the occasion of the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, and sent them, and especially the Palestinian people targeted by the Israeli genocide, his wishes for their peace and prosperity.

Ramadan, the Islamic holiday that began on March 10 and ended on April 10 with the fast-breaking Eid al-Fitr celebrations, lasts twenty-nine to thirty days—from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next, depending on geographical location—during which Muslims aim to grow spiritually and develop a stronger relationships with Allah.

The word Ramadan derives from the Arabic root "ar-ramad," or “scorching heat”. Muslims believe that in 610 AD, the angel Gabriel appeared to the Prophet Muhammad and revealed to him the Quran, the central religious text of Islam, on the Laylat al-Qadr or "Night of Power".
