HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 9 (ACN) In his speech at the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla reiterated the solidarity of his country and its President Miguel Díaz-Canel with Mexico in view of the unacceptable action against the Mexican Embassy in Quito, Ecuador, which he described as a serious violation of international law, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the right to asylum, and Mexico's sovereignty.
“The transgression of Mexico's sovereignty alarms us all without exception, as it should, and we all have the responsibility to denounce it firmly,” he stressed.
Rodríguez Parrilla called for dialogue and negotiation as the only acceptable ways to resolve differences between nations in accordance with the principles of International Law and in full compliance with the Charter of the United Nations and urged CELAC countries to make their voice heard as one in the face of these unacceptable events, which have fallout on the entire Community.
“Mexico can and will be able to count on our resolve and willingness to back its response to this serious violation of international law”, he concluded.
