Cuba Rejects US Rhetoric on Gaza

Havana, April 8 (ACN) Cuba’s permanent representative at the United Nations Ernesto Soberon rejected the US rhetoric on the Gaza crisis and demanded a far-reaching, fair and lasting solution to the conflict.

Addressing the UN General Assembly, the Cuban ambassador fingered Washington for protecting its Middle East allied (Israel), while pretending to be concerned about the unprecedented number of civilian deaths, the humanitarian catastrophe, hunger, and the serious sanitary situation in Gaza as a consequence of the Israeli invasion.

Genocide will prevail as long as the US keeps backing and protecting the invading power by providing it with weapons, military assistance and using its veto at the UN Security Council, said the Cuban diplomat.

Soberon recalled that the US was the only country which did not back the UN resolution demanding the temporary ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan. He ratified Cuba’s support of a Peace Conference sponsored by the UN which helps preserve the rights of the Palestinian people, and the full UN membership of Palestine.
