Gaza Reduced to Debris by Israeli Invasion

Havana, April 2 (ACN) At least 26 million tons of debris from destroyed infrastructure cover the streets of Gaza while over half the local population is on the brink of famine as a direct consequence of the Israeli aggression against that Palestinian territory.

According to the World Bank, the damage inflicted on critical infrastructure is valued at about 18.5 billion dollars, equivalent to 97 percent of the Gross Domestic Product of Gaza and the West Bank in 2022, PL news agency reported.

In Gaza alone, over one million people lost their homes, according to a report backed by the United Nations.

The World Bank assessment explains that 72 percent of the total estimate cost stems from the homes destroyed, while 92 percent of a main roads in Gaza were damaged under the Israeli attacks, which started on October last year.

Some 84 percent of all healthcare facilities have been damaged either partially or totally, while the rest are offering very basic services due to lack of electricity, water and medicines.
