HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 2 (ACN) The Belgian association Cubanismo.be raised funds for solidarity with Cuba, in order to send a new container with medical supplies.
Kasper Libeert, national secretary of Cubanismo.be, told Prensa Latina that the donation, fruit of the fund-raising carried out during the Easter celebrations, should arrive in November.
He stressed that the sale of chocolate eggs has become in recent years a way to bring Belgians closer and to sensitize them to the reality faced by the Caribbean nation due to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.
Libeert explained that the campaign called "Help Cuba to help" collected 7,000 euros in March, to which will be joined the money raised through other initiatives.
He specified that Cubanismo.be participates in several projects in support of the island in the face of the U.S. blockade, among them "Let Cuba Live", promoted by the Peoples Dispatch platform.
The Belgian association participated late last year in the international court that symbolically judged the blockade against Cuba at the headquarters of the European Parliament, a policy it ruled to be in violation of International Law and universal norms for peaceful coexistence.
