Cuba Reelected Vice-Chair of the Committee for Palestinian Rights



Havana, March 11 (ACN) Cuba was reelected on Monday vice-president of the Committee for the Palestinian People’s Inalienable Rights, the island’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations Gerardo Penalver announced.

Penalver said that Cuba assumes the responsibility under its commitment to keep denouncing the crimes of Israel and to advocate a process of peace in that region of the world.

The Cuban diplomat was picked to take the post along his counterparts from Indonesia, Namibia and Nicaragua, while Malasia’s permanent ambassador at the United Nations Ahmad Faisal Muhamad will be the rapporteur and vice-president.

The Committee, set up in 1975 by the UN General Assembly, is entitled to suggest a road map for the independence and sovereignty of the Palestinian people, ad to support the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes and properties.
