Cuba Rejects Extension of US Executive Order against Venezuela

Havana, March 6 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez rejected the extension of an executive order imposed by Washington against Venezuela.

On his X account, https://shorturl.at/aiW36 Minister Rodriguez denounced the enforcement of unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela under the groundless pretext that the South American nation poses a threat to US national security and foreign policy.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil, on his part, issued a statement describing the US measure as unnecessary, absurd and hostile. This proves that the weakening US leadership is not capable to design a coherent foreign policy not based on coercion, blackmail and disrespect, the Venezuelan diplomat noted.

US President Joe Biden extended for one more year an executive order declaring the Nicolas Maduro government as an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to US security.

Executive Order 13.692 was declared on March 8, 2015 by former US President Barack Obama as a national emergency with respect to what was called the situation in Venezuela.
