HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 5 (ACN) Speaking at the 6th Culture Summit Abu Dhabi, held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Cuban Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso Grau denounced the massacre committed against the Palestinian people and urged to take a stand to stop it.
Alonso Grau also condemned the U.S. blockade as the main obstacle to development in all fields of Cuban life, including culture, which he described as paramount to the revolutionary transformation process in the island, where it is considered indispensable to achieve full emancipation.
The official ratified the need that the post-2030 Sustainable Development Agenda recognize a goal specifically dedicated to culture and acknowledged as a universal public asset available to all and exhorted all countries to implement public policies that protect national heritage, memory and cultural diversity.
Organized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism with UNESCO’s cooperation, the conference gathered ministers of culture from various countries and provided a platform for in-depth discussions and the exploration of innovative approaches to harness the power of culture with a view to a sustainable future.
