HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 26 (ACN) Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba received the president of the National Assembly of People's Power, Esteban Lazo, at the African nation's State House.
Lazo also held a meeting on Sunday with the founding father and first president of Namibia, Sam Nujoma, who thanked the Caribbean nation for its support to the independence of his country and its permanent solidarity with its people.
According to the island's legislative body on X, during the meeting Nujoma ratified the close ties between the two nations.
The Cuban parliamentary leader paid honors on Saturday to the recently deceased president of Namibia, Hage G. Geingob, at his state funeral.
According to Prensa Latina, while speaking along with other world leaders at Geingob's funeral ceremony, Lazo highlighted how since the news of his death, Cuba expressed its gratitude to the former president, who demonstrated a courageous, firm, independent and supportive stance towards the Cuban Revolution.
That attitude, he added, was reflected against the economic blockade imposed on the Caribbean nation by the United States for more than 60 years and on the occasion of other events that have affected the welfare of the Cuban people.
