HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 8 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated his Azeri counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, who was reelected to office with more than 90% of the votes.
In a message posted on X, the Cuban leader wished Aliyev success in his new mandate and prosperity for his people and reasserted Cuba’s willingness to keep strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
On March 28, Cuba and Azerbaijan will celebrate the 32nd anniversary of their diplomatic relations, marked by friendly ties and close cooperation.
Díaz-Canel visited the Asian country in October 2019 to attend the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), whereas Cuban VP Salvador Valdés Mesa did so in March 2023 to participate in the Summit of the NAM Contact Group. Likewise, in June 2022, the vice president of the National Assembly of People's Power, Ana María Mari Machado, paid a visit to Azerbaijan.
