Havana, Jan 25 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez regretted the loss of human lives in Mali, Western Africa, because of a collapse of a gold mine.
On his X account, Minister Rodriguez sent his sympathies to the people and government of Mali, particularly to the relatives and friends of the over 70 fatal victims.
According to international media, some 73 persons died in the mine collapse last week in the locality of Kobadani, in the western Kolikouro region of the country.
Mali is the third largest gold producer in Africa; over 10 percent of Mali’s population –more than two million people—depend on gold mining, according to International Trade Administration, linked to the US Department of Commerce.
