Cuban VP visited Julius Nyerere's widow in Tanzania

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 24 (ACN) “I could not be in Tanzania without visiting Mrs. Mama Maria Nyerere, widow of Julius Nyerere,” said Cuban vice president Salvador Valdes Mesa, who is paying an official visit to this African nation.

At their meeting, marked by respect and affection and in which Mama María Nyerere's children and grandchildren were also present, they recalled Fidel’s and Nyerere’s influence on history.

Julius Kambarage Nyerere, an anti-imperialist and anti-Apartheid advocate of Pan-Africanism, masterminded the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, which gave birth to the United Republic of Tanzania, of which he was president.
