Havana, Jan 22 (ACN) It’s been a great honor for Cuba to have chaired for the first time the Group of 77 plus China, said Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.
On his X account, the first secretary of Cuba’s Communist Party wished Uganda success during its chairing of the Group and offered its support to the African nation.
We handed over to Uganda the G-77 chair aware that the group advanced and strengthened its agenda despite the difficulties imposed by the criminal US blockade, the Cuban head of state noted.
Cuban vice-president Salvador Valdes Mesa handed over the G-77 Chair to Uganda during the opening of the Third Summit of the South held in the capital Kampala.
During the ceremony, considered a new opportunity to keep boosting dialog among developing nations and promoting actions to face common challenges, the Cuban vice-president said that chairing the G-77 meant for Cuba the reason to feel proud and honored.
Valdes Mesa said that unity must be the word of the day for the G-77 plus China in current tough times when actions aimed at dividing the South nations proliferate.
