HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 21 (ACN) Cuba transferred to Uganda the pro tempore presidency of the G77+China group and thanked its members for their support against the 60-plus year old U.S. blockade of the island.
At the Third South Summit, Cuban VP Salvador Valdés Mesa remarked that his country was very proud and honored to have chaired the G77+China for the first time and praised both the Group's firm position against the unilateral coercive measures imposed on several of its members and the support that Cuba received during its mandate from the United Nations system and to the G77 Secretariat.
He also pointed out that Cuba will always be committed to the defense of unity in pursuit of the legitimate interests and aspirations of the Member States, which will make them stronger and more influential.
